My Husband Left Me

Today is a random day.
Which makes it perfect for me to link up with Shanna for Random Wednesday.

Wondering about my title?
Well, if you are new to this rodeo that I call life then you should know that my husband works nights.
Which I hate.
But he has been on vacation from work for over a week so at night, he has been home with me.
It's been amazing.
I love having him not run out the door at 9 at night right when I'm free of children and ready to spend time with him.
But last night, he had to go back to work, and it wasn't appreciated.
He left me for work.
But don't worry, I'm formulating a plan to get him to quit soon.

In other news, Alex was being really really quiet last night while in the bathtub. And my kids aren't quiet in the bath....they HATE baths.
It's like a battle every night to get them to bathe.
It's almost like I gave birth to two little boys.
I went to check on her, and she was passed out. Cold.
It was hilarious.
If only I could show you the entire picture, you would die.
She was layed down with her ankles crossed and her mouth open.
But since this is the internet, I cropped the pic....and now it looks kind of creepy and like she is underwater.
Sorry about that, she was safe and didn't drown.
                                                              creeepy, no?

She also jammed her finger playing basketball and it's really swollen.
Don't worry, we wrapped it with two pieces of plastic (to keep it straight, obvs) and an ace bandage. Doctor FH at his finest.

And I forgot to take a picture....fail.
My kid being in pain is no excuse to not take a picture.

Kate also fell off the ripstick last night and swore she broke her pinky toe. She wanted to go back out and play though so there were no ace bandages involved.
Told ya it was like I had two boys.

And the final topic of this random post will be my Weigh In Wednesday.....which isn't great.
I stayed the same. Whomp, whomp.

The crappy thing is that I have lost and gained back the same lb for like 2 weeks now. I am determined to get that lb off for good!

And no, my results aren't very motivating...but I've thought of some things that are motivating for you and me since I'm talking to myself.

1. The sun was out big time yesterday. Which made me think of tank tops....and my fat arms deserve to see some sun this year. I want them to be tank top ready.

2. You know that feeling you get when you want to get in shape for an event, then the event gets here and you are all like "If only I had stuck to that plan, I would be feeling awesome right now?" Well, I don't want to feel that way. I have a wedding shower coming up, Valentine's day, an anniversary, a concert, and many more events. I want to look good for those events...good enough to post an outfit pic on IG. Cause that really prooves that I feel good. lol

3. I don't know about you, but in the Spring, I don't have my security blanket. My security blanket is, like every other fat girl in America, layers. A tank top under a shirt that will help suck you in. A cardigan over that shirt to cover the busted can of biscuits. A big fat hooded sweatshirt to cover the fact that my jeans are super tight.
In the summertime, none of that is happening.
Not to mention, shorts. Enough said.

Okay, I'm motivated now!!! I am looking forward to a full week of being good and working towards my goals. I am STILL sore from my ab class on Monday so I will for sure be going back next week.

Goals for this week: {I never do this, but it will be nice to go back and see how I did each week}
-Monday strength and abs class
-work on pushups/tank top arms. my goal with this is to do as many as I can for a minute, then rest, then repeat. {thanks for the plan, FH!}
-avoid just doing cardio, I have recently discovered that I really like going into the all girls' workout room at the gym. No one judges you and it's small so hardly anyone is in there. I am going to get together some pinterest workouts and go in there with a plan in mind
-water, water, water
-there's a bootcamp at my gym that I'm dying to try, hopefully I will get to that this week
-run a 10K on Saturday-Holla!!

Question: Why is it Weigh In Wednesday? I would do so much better if we did this on a Friday. Former Fatty Friday anyone?? haha

Happy Wednesday Y'all! Can't wait to read about how everyone else did better than me this week! ;)

Don't Juuuuuuuudggge Me

I have learned a lot from blogging.
New recipes, new makeup, new workout gear.
New ways to get in shape, new ways to approach dieting, new ways to develop really tight friendships.
But there is one thing I have learned that is above all others.
Don't judge.

I'm guilty of it, of course.
But blogging has introduced me to people that I may not have been friends with in real life. Truth: we normally tend to build friendships with people who live similar lives to us.
But in the blogging world, you "meet" people and become friends with bloggers that can be really different than you.
Of course you have something in common, or else you probably would never be reading their blog...but people from different areas, different ages, and different sizes have broadened my perspective.

I think mainly I mean in the category of weight loss.
I've read so many blogs of people trying to get in shape and working hard to make it happen. But by looking at them, you would never know. This is what makes me want to go up to an overweight person in the gym, obviously there for the first time, and give them a high five!
Tell them way to go! Because walking in that gym was probably more difficult for them than you would think.

I was judged last night at the gym.
It wasn't hurtful at all. Because honestly, I know by looking at me, you can't tell that I work out usually 5 to 7 times a week.
You can't tell that I have honestly been working out for years.
You just see me, not hugely overweight but pretty dang chunky, in my tshirt and pants instead of fancy workout gear.
If you aren't in the gym when I get there and see me doing my thing, you would have no idea that I can probably jump higher than that girl over there in her size 0 workout pants. Or that I can do more situps than her, and more often than not, can probably run faster than her.

You would probably guess that I WAS for way too long that girl that would work out for an hour and then go eat pizza. Thank goodness I'm not her anymore though.

I took a strength and abs class last night.
I knew before going in there that the teacher was an old lady, like at least 400, but I also knew that she was hardcore.
And she was.
What I didn't know was how small the class would be. Only 2 other ladies. Welcome to Small Town USA. And they were older too.....but I've done the classes that all the young 'ens were in, and most of them don't work hard.
One of the ladies told me to get some weights, and she warned me that I should probably start off pretty light.
Now let's be honest, you NEVER know what you are getting into in these classes. For all I knew I was going to be holding those weights the whole entire time over my head, so I just listened. I got 3 lb weights. Which I'm sure a toddler could handle.

30 minutes into the class, all 3 of the ladies wanted to know what kind of normal workout I do because I made it look too easy.
They wanted to know where I took bootcamp and I didn't even mention the word bootcamp.
They made me get the 7.5 lb weights. And they made me lead a leg exercise.

They had judged me. Not in a bad way, just in a natural way.
This girl isn't tiny and she's new to this class, she must not know anything about working out.

I guess I showed them.
And you know what they showed me?
Some old ladies are hardcore.
I WILL be going back to that workout class.
And the cute young extrememly tiny instructor that I attended her class last week? It was so lame that I crossed through her name on my schedule to make sure I NEVER went back to that class again.

So next time you see a chunky girl in the gym, don't judge her.
She might work twice as hard as you.
Or it might have taken her a TON of courage just to get there.
And honestly, that girl over there in the size 0 workout pants? She might have been in a size 12 before she got in the gym.
You just never know.

After all, we are all just trying to become better versions of ourselves.
Us girls gotta stick together. :)

Happy Tuesday Y'all!
Sorry if this was too deep for you, I'll be back tomorrow with a less serious Weigh In Wednesday. Last chance workout tonight!!! Pin It Now!

Losing My Nickels

As you know, we went to the casinos Friday night.
And I played the nickel slot machines.
And won nothing.
It was quite depressing.
But LOTS of fun!

I even took a selfie, which I never do.

Now, don't go expecting an outfit post or anything next...I'm so not that girl. Maybe one day....

We ended up having awesome seats for the concert....and I sang along to more songs than I thought I would have.

I mean, not like front row seats, but the first row that was elevated a little so we could see great.
We even had some chick come over to us and ask us if we would trade seats with her friends who were sitting way down front and we turned her down. It was funny, she looked at me and asked and I told her No thanks.
Then she looked and FH and asked again to get the "final say".
She obviously didn't know who was in charge. I kid, I kid.

We ended up getting a stellar stanky hotel room for the night......
The casinos that we were going to were booked up so we found a cheaper one just down the road. It was very glamarous, I tell ya:

They even put this real thin pillow top on top of the piece of wood that serves as a bed.....very thoughtful of them.

So after the concert, and after the nickel slots, we decided we both really wanted to sleep in our own bed.
There's no place like home.
So we drove all the way home....well, FH drove all the way home and I did my best to keep him company and not fall asleep.
The HUGE waffle house breakfast that we both consumed did NOT help so much.

Saturday we went to K&A's basketball game and they won.
I was proud....but also a little sad because this was the last game that I will see this year. Next week I will miss their game because I will be running my first 10K ever with this girl and this girl.
I'm not excited about missing basketball but I am really excited about the 10K. Even though I didn't run at all last week, I probably won't run any this week {because I don't want my legs to hurt on Saturday}, and both of these girls are awesome runners so I'm gonna be choking on their dust the whole time.
It's still exciting though and it's my first real live blate. :)

The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful.
Shopping of course was fun...as always.
And I spent half of the superbowl helping Kate write her book report that was due this morning and the other half doing laundry.
So I missed all the commercials and the boring football.
I did sit down and watch once it got interesting though.
And of course, I stopped to watch Beyonce. Duh.

I'm happy to say that I finally got back on the scale this morning......and after about a week off of working out, I still stayed at the same weight.
To me that is winning! Especially after the previously mentioned Waffle House 2 AM eating.
I'll be back in action at the gym today so I'm excited to get back on track.

How was your weekend?? Did you start the month of love out right?? Are you still keeping your New Years Resolutions??

Happy Monday Y'all!

Fat Girls shouldn't wear Skinny Jeans

If you are offended by my title, then you should know that I was really just reminding myself.

Reason #4,685,492 why I need to lose weight: I have been stressing for about a week over what I will wear to the casinos when we go tonight.

Bless my dear husband...I jokingly told him I was going to wear jeans and a sweatshirt and he said "Works for me!" I have no doubt that he was telling the truth too. Don't worry, I'm not.
Although I'm definately tempted.

In other news, I'm finally feeling better!
Can I get a Hallelujah?!?!
I'm still not 100% and I still haven't worked out yet, but I can breathe and that's BIG!
I have missed working out a ton but I know the timing of me getting sick was great since I probably wouldn't have been able to force myself to take a break on my own.
Well played God, well played.

I'm leaving work early today to figure out something to wear tonight.
I'm not stressing too much over what to wear because we are going to the Aaron Lewis concert.....and if you just said "Who is Aaron Lewis?" then you understand why I'm not too worried about what I wear.
FH wanted to see him so this is his present from me and the casino has free drinks, right?? Seriously though, he did play me a few songs and I recognized them so I'm sure it will be a fun time.
Since I live in the middle of nowhere, I don't have many options on finding something new to wear....so I'll more than likely just shop in my own closet.
Yes, chunky girls can do that.
I love discovering new things in my closet......but man does it motivate me to work out when I realize how much stuff I have that doesn't fit!!!

I have noticed lately that I haven't had many pictures for my blog posts...Huge blogger fail.
But we all know I have been off my game this week.
I plan on being back in full force next week!

And of course I will be posting some pics tonight on IG of us old folks partying! (follow me @MrsLoYoung)

Happy Friday Y'all!!!!
PS I did a semi-secret guest post today...if you follow me on IG, then you probably know where. If you don't, then guess you will have to find it to read it. :)

I'm a Runner, HOLLA!

You know what I realized tonight?
I'm a runner.

No, I'm not fast.
No, I can't run far yet.
But I AM a runner.

Want to know why?
Because my legs hurt...and instead of appreciating this break from sweating, it is killing me.
Straight up KILLING me.
I need to sweat.
I need to burn.
I need to run.

Don't get my wrong,
I love to be lazy.
And I'm lazy pretty often.

I've been sick for 3 days.
I can't breath through my nose
{disgusting, I know}
but all I can think about is WHEN CAN I RUN?

Who am I??
I'm not even sure anymore...but I know that I love running.

I love how I can be having the worst day ever and then when I go pound some pavement, it makes me feel better.
Listening to music, thinking about goals, analyzing how I am going to accomplish those goals, motivating myself, imagining how I am going to post a fast pace on IG, and just having time to think.
Running is my jam.

I've always loved sports.
I mean LOVED sports.

In high school, I played volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis.
I even cheered once or twice but only so I could ride the bus to football games.
I was always active, it was like breathing to me.

Then came college.
I still played sports, I was still active.....
but after college, I lost myself.

I became a Mom, a wife, a student again, and I lost myself.
It wasn't about me. Ever.

I'm still a mom and a wife and now a career woman....and it's SO EASY as a mom to lose yourself.
To not make time for yourself.
To do that load of laundry or those dishes instead of going for a run.
To sweep the floor instead of making it to that class at the gym.
For one rest day to turn into months.

BUT YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
If making you happy leaves a few dishes in the sink, who cares?

I'm teaching my kids that it's good to be active.
My kids may not have a mom that fits into a size 4 jeans, but they know that Mom runs and goes to the gym and pays attention to calories.
They are learning from me.
And when I run, I'm happier.
Which makes me a better mom.
Isn't that what we all want to be anyways?

I have my first 10K next Saturday.
I should be scared.
I should be worried about not finishing....
but instead, all I can think about is making sure I can breath through my nose by then so that I can run.

I don't need a pair of high heels to make me feel like a woman, my running shoes make me feel like Superwoman and I don't even have to remove my cape when I get home to do the Mom gig.

Are you a runner?
Do you even realize it yet?
Or are you just starting out?
I read an interesting blog post here that some of you might enjoy reading...just thought I would share.

Here's to hoping I am back to rockstar status and can run soon!

Why Doesn't the Toothfairy have PayPal?

So, this happened last night.
You know, because if I forgot I would get the mom of the year award.
And I'm not gonna say it's never happened.
There was this one time at band camp when one of the girls came running in my room to tell me that the toothfairy didn't come.
Luckily, I had a $1 right beside my bed so I wouldn't forget. FAIL.
So I slipped that bad boy under my pillow real slick-like and pulled it out and said "Oh look, that silly toothfairy put it in here. Must be because you come get in my bed sometimes."
She totally bought it.
Mission accomplished.
Luckily she was like 5 then.
The girls haven't lost a tooth in a LONG time so I knew I might forget.
I didn't though....thanks to my alarm.

That dang tooth fairy. Gets all the credit.
Just like Santa.
Do you know how lucky it was that I actually had a dollar?!
Who carries cash nowadays?
And then, the tooth fairy didn't even get any credit.....Alex said "it was raining dolla bills and one landed on my pillow"
Cause it's normal for a 9 year old to say "dolla" right?

at least she learned at a young age that you should never let anyone take a pic of you when you first roll outta bed

Wanna know what else happened yesterday?
Let's pretend like the answer is yes.
This happened:
I registered for my first 10K.
And I'm really scared.
I can appreciate the fact that it says "run/walk" so I won't feel so bad when I have to walk some.
I'm also super excited about it.....except for the fact that it is in Feb, like the beginning of Feb.
What was I thinking?!
This happened yesterday too:

half marathon training y'all!!

I haven't gotten very fast yet, I'm still working on that part.
But I have gotten where I can run farther without stopping and where I'm not DYING when I get done.
So, that's something.

Also, today is 3 weeks straight of me working out every day.
Now, before you jump on me and tell me I need a rest day...you should know that I have had rest days. Or at least my version of them.
I don't run every day. I don't do anything every day. I switch it up.
I have to, or else I get really bored.
I've even found myself not loving the elliptical lately....which is just crazy. So I'm trying to keep it interesting and do different things.
And on rest days, I just walk. Slow and easy but enough to still burn calories...I never knew burning calories was like a drug.
Now, I have to do it every day or I feel lost.

And now......what you have been waiting for......probably not, but let's pretend.
Weigh In Wednesday.
***can I get a drum roll please??**
No, you cannot get a drum roll....1 lb does not deserve a drum roll.
Kidding. Kind of.
So, I only lost 1 lb this week...but at least it's a lb in the right direction.
I could have done better. I could have skipped a few food items and not eaten them JUST BECAUSE I had the calories left.
I think I am most bummed about this because I was down 2 lbs on like Sunday and somehow I managed to gain 1 of those back.
Such is life.
I'm still excited that I am sticking with my program...I mean, really, 3 weeks! I have never stuck to any kind of weight loss program that long. For that, I am proud.

Can't wait to read how everyone else is doing....follow the button to read more stories!

Happy Wednesday Y'all.
And in case you were wondering, NO, I haven't figured out the internet at my house yet. Slice my eyeball open with a rusty butterknife. It's really starting to make me mad.
Today, I'm gonna have K&A look at it and see if they can figure it out.

See y'all tomorrow....or again later today if I get bored. :)

You Know those Back Rolls You Have......

Let me tell y'all about how I am co-hosting Tell Me About It Tuesday with Helene and Emily....I'm really excited about this!

I have watched this linkup grow SOOO quickly and it's always fun to join in on.

Helene in Between

First up, let me tell you about how I was suppose to post this blog last night but I couldn't get my internet working. Yep, I was gettin' all fancy and finally getting the world wide web at my house. Try not to laugh at how behind I am. And then, the guy finished and left, and I tried to get on my laptop and nothing happened.
I mean, you would think a guy dressed so professionally would have been more helpful, wouldn't you??
Don't act like you are shocked that I took a pic....I am a blogger after all.
Next, let me tell you about how I did a little a ton of shopping this weekend. I'm really proud of myself because not once BUT TWICE I had a pair of new jeans in my hands and I put them back....because let's be honest, I'm shrinking and I don't need to buy any new jeans right now. Not to mention I have at least 400 pairs of all sizes at my house. I, instead, bought lots of workout-related stuff.
And speaking of workout-related stuff, y'all I cannot move today. I did this video:

on Sunday.....and today is Tuesday and I'm still walking like a pregnant lady. I didn't think it was that tough while I was doing it.....but waking up the next morning and rolling out of bed was a HUGE challenge. HUGE!!! I have to run today and it is going to be a challenge....but I'll manage. Hopefully.

Last, but not least, let me tell you about my husband.
Y'all I laughed so hard that I cried with this one.
So, we all know I love my husband dearly.
Like for real, he is the greatest man I know.
And unless you are new here, you know that I have been working hard on my fitness.
Well, FH is always the first to tell me if he can tell that I am looking thinner. He sees how hard I am working and is my #1 fan.
He is extrememly supportive....but God bless him, it's really hard to tell a woman that she looks skinnier.
You know what I mean?
Us women, God bless us, we love compliments...but you know at the back of your head when someone tells you that you look good, you are wondering what the crap you looked like before?!
It's a natural thing for a girl....to critique compliments and see bad in them.
Well, the other night, FH came running into the bedroom. He was grinning real big and had his phone in his hand.
Like me, FH follows a lot of workout people/pages on his phone.
Of course he mainly looks at how dudes get beefed up and I mainly look at how chicks slim down, but still.....
So, he showed me this before/after pic of a young boy who completed this 24 day challenge......the pic was of the boy from the back.
It said he had lost 13 lbs or something like that.....I was impressed but kinda wondering....okay, who cares?! I'm not gonna do this 24 hour challenge, I'm sticking with MFP, but thanks for showing me.
Then, it happens.
Word vomit.
I should mention that FH had had a beer or two, that makes it funnier.
You know how we all have word vomit after we get liquid courage?

FH said, {please note, I can't remember the exact words, so FH don't be mad if I put words into your mouth, I just remember around about what you said} "so you see those back rolls that he had?"
Me: "ummm, yeah"
FH: "well, umm, I notice lately that yours aren't as bad as they use to be. since you are getting thinner."
Me: {laughing}
FH: "this is why I kept my mouth shut because there's no good way to tell you this compliment, but you know, those rolls, there aren't as many as there were before....."

this convo continues several minutes as he tries to explain himself and I try to stop laughing. I laugh so I don't cry.

Bless his heart. That's what we say in the south when we really want to cuss someone.
I can appreciate the fact that he was complimenting me.
But honestly, now I'm wondering just how many fat rolls I have back there behind me.....and how many did I have before?
Should it be a weight loss measuring tool to count those?

Oh, I'm just grossing myself out now.
Maybe I should have warned you skinny people that you wouldn't find this funny.....oh well.
That's what you get for being skinny....life is tough.

And now, I'll continue to work on that back fat that I didn't even realize I had and hopefully I'll get another amazing compliment soon.

How was your weekend? Did you work on your fitness? Did you go shopping? Were you one of the unfortunate ones that had to work yesterday??

Also, if you haven't emailed me yet to tell me what you are providing for my giveaway, make sure you do so! I am a little behind on putting this together, {you can thank the guy above in camo} but seriously, so far I have lots of people joining in so this should be a fun giveaway if I can ever get it together.

Happy Tuesday Y'all!!!
